Prayer for Family & Home

Prayer for Family & Home

Fire on the Family Altar

Equip families to establish household prayer, restore the family altar, and raise children anchored in faith.

“Revival will come to a nation when the family altar is restored.” — Cheryl Sacks (Word from the Lord)

As the Family Goes, So Goes the Nation

This foundational truth drives everything BridgeBuilders does: the spiritual health of a nation begins in the home. When families become houses of prayer, communities are transformed, churches are revived, and nations experience awakening.

Why the Family Altar Matters

  • Spiritual Heritage – Pass faith to the next generation (Deuteronomy 6:6-9)
  • Protection – Cover your home in prayer and invite God’s presence
  • Unity – Families that pray together stay together
  • National Revival – As families go, so goes the nation

What is the Family Altar?

The family altar is a regular, intentional time when your household gathers to pray, worship, and read Scripture together. It’s not about perfection or lengthy rituals — it’s about inviting God’s presence into the center of your home.

Benefits of Family Prayer

  • Children who see parents pray develop a vibrant faith
  • Marriages are strengthened through united intercession
  • Homes become refuges of peace in chaotic times
  • Families experience God’s tangible presence

How to Start Your Family Altar

1. Set a Regular Time

Choose a time that works for your family — morning, evening, or mealtime. Consistency matters more than duration.

2. Keep It Simple

Start with 10-15 minutes. Include these elements:

  • Read a Bible passage together
  • Pray for each family member
  • Worship with a simple song or hymn
  • Pray for your community and nation

3. Make It Age-Appropriate

Engage children at their level. Let them pray aloud, choose songs, or share prayer requests.

4. Stay Consistent

Don’t be discouraged by interruptions or missed days. The enemy will fight family prayer. Press through and build the habit.

Experience Heaven’s Atmosphere in Your Home

When families pray together, the spiritual atmosphere shifts. Homes become havens of peace, refuges from the chaos of the world, and launching pads for revival.
